DRESS SLIMMER &
LOOK THINNER
 |
Everyone’s weight
fluctuates. While not everyone can be a size small or
medium, the clothes you wear can make you look thinner, or
have the opposite affect, it’s your choice. Dress slimmer
and look thinner with these modern fashion tips. BY OUR

You
don’t need to completely
cover your body if you have extra weight. There are ways by
which you can camouflage those extra kilos you gained over the
holidays. Of course every tip will not work for you. Find out
what best flatters your figure and stick with it. Accentuate
your great features and accessorize.
Black is
beautiful. The fashion
fairy princess came and twirled her magic wand right around your
body for a perpetually chic and ‘can’t go wrong fashion choice’.
Providing the fabric doesn’t have much of a sheen to it, black
absorbs light and, as long as the garment fits well, an instant
way to look a couple of pounds lighter.
Monochromatic manoeuvres. Head-to-toe dark neutrals are visually
lengthening and slimming. Once you wear high contrast colour
combinations, your figure breaks into too many elements and cuts
short the illusion of leanness.
Graze
not grip. Skim the body,
not painted on the body! If you can’t stick an ATM card into the
pocket of your jeans without propelling your hipbones forward,
your pants are too darn tight… give in and buy the next size!
If it isn’t right, keep it outta sight. Honeys, we know belly
baring is in, but if you look more rotund than reed-like keep
the flesh under wraps.
Go funk.
Stuffy styling adds years and it’s bad enough that a few pounds
push the age envelope too. Lighten up your image by dressing
young at heart.
Easy
does it. Keep styling
simple, yet edgy, and forget the frills for now. The fussier
your outfit gets, the fuller you look.
Stay balanced. If you find yourself getting bottom heavy, wear
tops with broader shoulders or horizontal stripes to appear more
visually in sync.
Accessorize. How lucky
are we that long, oblong scarves and big slouchy bags totally
rock this season? Can’t think of two better ways to look lean.
Minimize
curves. A medium-length,
double-breasted suit disguises big breasts and hips. Elongate
your body. A pinstripe outfit creates a vertical optical
illusion, making you appear taller and thinner.
Conceal
your behind. A cover-up
blazer hides your derriere and gives you the confidence to wear
a body-fitting dress. Pants with full-cut legs conceal large
thighs and a big backside.
Disguise
big breasts. A cropped
jacket diverts attention from a busty upper body by emphasizing
the waist. Boat necks and halter tops also work nicely with a
broad upper body.
Hide
your tummy. An A-line
dress and matching coat are instantly chic and can camouflage
unwanted bulges. A solid skirt with two darts also smoothes out
your tummy. Trousers with a flat front hide your tummy and
flatten you all around.
Slim the
body. A single-button
jacket with long pants has an overall slenderizing effect.
Cover
thighs. A long jacket
with slim pants is thoroughly modern, yet covers you waist to
knee. A straight-cut skirt hides big thighs. The slight flare at
the bottom of boot-cut pants makes your thighs appear thinner.
Lengthen
your legs. Pants with
narrow-cut legs hug your thighs and butt, making you appear
taller. Every woman should own a classic sheath dress and
skinny-heeled pumps that elongate legs and lift calves.
Create
an illusion. For longer,
thinner legs wear slender, sexy heels.
Lengthen
a shorter torso. A white
shirt worn half unbuttoned and over pants extends the upper
body.
Play
with the way fabrics fall on your body.
Flowing outfits can elongate and
give you confidence to achieve a sexy look for evening.
Show off those legs.
If you’ve got fit and well-proportioned legs, show
them off! Short skirts or short dresses should never be taboo,
whatever your size.” And remember, a small weight gain will make
your clothes feel tighter so always have some “fat” clothes
available for those occasions and don’t feel bad. Every woman
experiences this.
